REVIEWS:

From Jonathan:

Well here's the review! From Knoxville, TN Apr22

Well first let me say that 1,100 miles and over 24 hours later, my spirits are lifted and I had a grandiose time!! In the extreme. I actually live  the Washington D.C. metro area, in Northern Virginia (Reston). My best friend and I drove down to Knoxville to see Fiona, and to our surprise it was a real great place-just a great town in fact, we got there with  many hours to spare and rest.

Its 639am here in VA and I just got back from TN. The concert: Magnificent, I am short-changed for words. This is how it all started....Mr. Eel comes out alone and starts slamming and thrashing the piano like a madman! It was a riot. Then he did about 4 or 5 songs ala guitar or piano, his band he says is in rehab, if this is true or not I have no idea. I felt kind of sorry for him, all alone with no band, but he was admirable.

Fiona sets fire to the stage about 20-30 min later - She opens with On The Bound I believe, now alot of us were disconcerted about having to sit, but Fiona soon took care of that by encouraging some dancing. It was clear that by now she and the band have everything down smack, yet Fiona sings with as much charisma, passion, and volatility, that it its as if she were opening for the first time. She danced so hard she looked so tired as to collapse at the end of the set. The audience were a respectful bunch, amazingly so. When she was in a delicate ballad or very touching verse, no one would scream......(Well by&large) The decibel of applause she received could not have been louder, or more deserved. When she asked for "five minutes of screams and as much noise as possible" for her introduction on the band mates, people were going ballistically crazy. Her voice was austere and robust, especially after she gathered momentum after the first song, much to my reveling the songs were like the album except with 10 times more passion, and instrumental fire. She was direct and in very good spirits it seemed, in fact her great attitude set the mood and everyone picked up a high from that. One notable incident occurred when in the instrumental part of a song she stopped and glared at someone in the audience. After the song she declared "Who ever was dancing back there I LOVE YOU!! I love you guys!!" Word was that two girls on the balcony level flashed her. That I never saw though, oh well! Toward the conclusion, her slamming thrashing and lyrics had gotten inside my soul or something, I started dancing almost as crazy as she was....by now almost everyone was standing up, I was dancing in time with Chamberlain's drums, which were by the way just incredible.....I can't help it I'm a bassist myself! Rhythm is my thing! I slammed every snare and crash he hit high in the air with my arms.....then something cool happened......total release man! I got the most wicked high off pure adrenaline! It was sooooo very sweet man let me tell you. Then after our complete spaz of energy, it was over.....but of course we had to make racket for an encore......and that we did! There was enough noise in that auditorium (probably only at 80 or 85% capacity) to leave a ring in your ears. A small contribution I may have made, in my craze I got alot of the screams and yodels started that picked up through the crowd. We kept in up until she came back, performed some beautiful jazz and then one last song I can't recall that had some sinister energy and was eloquent at the same time.....one last dancing to the drum frenzy for me and then it was over, she bid us goodnight and left amongst thundering applause. Two words: Adrenalizing and uplifting. That is what I left with. Definitely the best show I have ever been to bar none.

Thanks Fiona!

Jonathan

From Heather:

We got to Knoxville looking for the crowd at the TN Auditorium, no crowd. Drive into the old city & find the crowd that looks like a "Fiona" crowd, sure enough, it's been moved to the TN theatre.  I couldn't have been happier, the theatre was beautifully old world decorated, the perfect setting to see Fiona, grandeur with intimacy.  Another plus to this, open bar - bring on the marguaritas!!!! As said before, it was only a 80% capacity, and the 80% there were Fiona fans!

The Eel seemed to have a pretty good time with us, he changed the words to Sweet Home Alabama to Sweet Home Tennessee.

Fiona "bounds" on to stage with On The Bound and blew us away for the next 90 minutes.  I enjoyed every song but she seems so much more comfortable and powerful behind her piano.  I Know sent shivers down my spine then and even now just thinking about it.  The encore's I had been anticipating per the reviews but not prepared for the beauty & power of her voice, (as everyone has expressed who has seen her) I just loved the encore so much, a great way to show her versatility.

I just want to thank Fiona for coming to Knoxville and putting on a great show for a small crowd of dedicated and loving fans!!!
