I just got back from the Indy concert. It was simply AMAZING!! I really hope I can remember all that went on! I left with 2 of my friends at 4:30 after school to make the trip from fort wayne to indy. Luckily, we only made a few wrong turns and got there by 6. I bought one of the white shirts with the flame right away. Then we found our seats- front row!! We were so close. We had some of the best seats! There was an orchestra pit right in front of us so we weren't right by the stage, but they were still awesome seats. J5 came on and they did a great job, really got the crowd going, especially some kids behind us. Then when they finished, the stage crew moved some stuff and Fiona came on at about 8:15 i think. It was so cute...she just jumped onto the stage out of no where and ran to the piano and played an awesome on the bound and to your love. Keith saw me during on the bound and nodded his head at me (I waved at him later and he smiled). I brought my camera and got some really good pictures, I hope they turn out okay. When she got up, she took off her sweater and while she was doing this she said (in a french accent) "I really don't know what to say so I'll just keep on talking with this accent..". The people around me were pretty cool, nothing too obnoxious. Someone yelled "Today's Missy's birthday and she loves you!" right during the silent part of love ridden. Afterwards, fiona got up and said they should of yelled it afterwards, it's all about timing, but she was very nice about and said happy birthday. A few songs later she said "I really love you guys" to the crowd. During limp, i swear she was looking straight at me!! The funniest part of the whole performance came while she was singing a mistake. This midget guy walked onto the stage and started dancing!! Fiona had no idea because she had her eyes closed dancing during this time. The midget guy came out before when J5 was singing but the guys loved him and started dancing with him. However, when Fiona finally opened her eyes, you could tell how shocked she was to see him up there right beside her. She went on dancing and started to sing, then sang "Why the hell are you on my stage???!" Two guys escorted him off and Fiona just had this stunned expression. Afterwards she said "What the hell am i supposed to say after that?!" I took a bunch of pictures of this!!

Then she introduced the band and had to ask Lucky what instrument he played. He acted upset and started to walk off the stage. She fell down laughing saying "I'm gonna make a mistake..." She was in a very good mood the whole night. When she came back for her encore, a guy a few seats down from me threw this necklace made out of christmas ornament balls on stage and she put it on. At the end of the last song, I held out the flower I got her but she didn't see it and walked off stage. I threw it on stage along with a present I got Keith and one of the crew members picked it up later. It was an awesome show!! I'm sorry of some of this doesn't make sense but I really need sleep now!

From Steven:

Last night's show at Indianapolis was one of the best shows I've ever seen. It just proved that Fiona is an artist that will be around a long time, maybe even to the extent that Cole Porter's music (i.e. Just One of Those Things) lasts. Things started strong, with the crowd in Indianapolis very enthusiastic. Throughout the first few songs, the crowd in the orchestra level was on their feet the whole time, and Fiona sounded great. At first she was a bit tentative, probably feeling out the crowd. As the show went on, she felt more and more comfortable with the crowd, and at one point I thought I heard her say "You guys are great." Although she feels awkward at times with things to say between songs, we didn't care. As far as I'm concerned, she speaks through her music, and doesn't need to worry about what to say. I was very proud of being from Indianapolis from the way the crowd reacted. Just like Cole Porter in the past, Indiana is a fine environment for encouraging artists.

Anyway, the songs were very passionate, with Fiona's intensity never waning throughout the show. Although I would have liked to hear my favorite song, Never Is A Promise, the song selection and order seemed well thought out, with an upbeat song following one of her "only me and my piano" ballads. One particular song, "I Know", actually gave me chills. She has an amazing power of grabbing the full attention of an audience hanging on every note on her soft ballads.

As the previous review mentioned, there was that weird moment in the show when the short, disabled man came on the stage during "A Mistake". I thought it was in very bad taste, but Fiona took it in stride. She was obviously mad that it happened, though. After the show when my wife and I, along with several other people, were waiting by the tour bus for an autograph, that man tried to plow through the crowd and offer Fiona an apology. The security guy out there told him to get off the property, and he left.

Back to the show. Again, the show went very well, and left the audience really excited to call Fiona back for an encore. Her first encore showed the artist that she is. She sang "Just One of Those Things" by Cole Porter with the class and vocal ability of a broadway singer. Then she brought "a little bit of Mardi Gras" into the show. Someone sitting in the audience brought her some elaborate Mardi Gras beads. She was wearing the beads while singing a funky "When I'm Kissin' My Love", which had kind of a cajun feel.

After the show, as I mentioned before, my wife and I tried and got an autograph from Fiona. She was gracious to come out after the show and talk with the fans. My wife tried to get her attention for the autograph by apologizing for the crowd at the Chicago Q101 Twisted 6 show. In case you don't know, the crowd there was not receptive at all, even booing her at times. In fact, my wife and I almost got into a fight with a guy in the audience in Chicago for saying mean things about Fiona during that performance.

Overall, the performance was a classic. It seemed as though a connection was made between audience and artist, which made for a memorable evening. Everyone in the audience recognized Fiona as a very genuine person who is graciously willing to express her emotions and vulnerability on such a large scale. She is a rare artist in these times of artificial image-making.

Sincerely,

Steven Levy

From Jessica:

Hello,  ...Fiona's March 7th show in Indianapolis was amazing.  I don't know how else to put it - she sang great, the band played great, she was funny, Jurassic 5 was great..... all of it came together to make a really great evening.  I almost couldn't go because of earlier commitments but I'm so incredibly glad I got out of them... If I hadn't gone I would have kicked myself in the ass for a long time afterwards.  Of course going in I knew it would be a great show, 'cause Fiona's such a great artist and performer, but it went way past even my highest expectations. It was just an amazing, amazing show and I'll never forget it.  Thanks for a great time.
