From Tommy:

I went to the show with HUGE expectations and believe me, she totally surpassed anything I could have imagined. Anyone who has yet to see the show is in for a wonderful surprise. Even the opening act, Jurassic 5, was a nice surprise. I have to give them a lot of respect because if you think about it, probably 90% of Fi's audience is non-hip hop, but they bumped the crowd and had everyone into it, so expect to see more of them soon. It's cool that she gave them a chance to be seen and to perform in front of crowds that didn't know what to expect. The only thing I missed was Never is a Promise and Honey and The First Taste. I realize that these songs were played on her first tour (which I missed) and this tour was for When the Pawn..., so it wasn't like a big disappointment. Overall, I already can't wait to see that little sparkplug back in Denver again, and I'm sure everyone at the show would agree with me.

From Mike:

Denver Concert, March 16th

This was the first time I have seen Fiona...what a show!  The show opened with the Jurassic 5.  Not my cup of tea but they are good at what they do.

From what I recall the set list was pretty much the same as the last few show.  My view was from stage right about halfway back (good thing I had binoculars)

The show started off strong with "On the Bound" and "To Your Love".  As I'm sure most of your are very familiar with the music so I won't bore you with my song-by-song analysis but I will try and give you a sense of what went on.

For those of you that don't know - Denver is called the Mile-High City for a reason.   When arriving from a lower altitude it takes 2-3 days to adjust.  The usual effects are increased thirst, fatigue, and a loss of energy.  It seemed to me that Fiona was definitely affected by the altitude.  After one of the early songs (Criminal I think) Fiona said she would be right back after getting some oxygen!  To her credit, she danced like a mad women all night and did NOT let the adversity affect the high quality of the show.  I recall at least 2 other times that she quickly ran off between songs to get quick Oxygen fix.

She also had a great story to tell.  Fiona shared that Wednesday night she learned that she is a sleepwalker!   Fiona mentioned that she awoke in another hotel room with all the lights on in the middle of a conversation!  If I recall correctly she said that she didn't get too much sleep but that she was going to use her experience for good during the concert.

Her overall voice quality was the best I have ever seen her pull off.  I think she nailed the new songs much better than during the MTV (When the Pawn..) debut concert earlier this year.  On several songs she almost seemed to be a trance like state as she rocked back and forth, eyes closed, face looking toward the heavens, belting out tremendous raw emotion.  She was very much on a Janice Joplin like energy vibe.  She did some pretty weird looking dancing and seemed determined not to let the altitude get to her.  After one song she remarked (while obviously sucking wind) that she would sound like Marilyn Monroe by the end of the evening and she broke into a quick "happy birthday, mr. President" routine!

Anyway - great show, excellent energy - got my moneys worth and even enough to cover the extra $10 the "ticket bastards" add on!
